About this formulation

Salt is the most ancient and clinically respected exfoliant in body care — used therapeutically for millennia in the Dead Sea, the Roman baths, and the hammam traditions of the Arab world. LAB 03 FZC’s private label salt body scrub brings that heritage into a contemporary, premium formulation: Dead Sea salt and Himalayan pink salt as the dual mineral exfoliant base, suspended in an anhydrous blend of cold-pressed coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba — a water-free oil system that conditions the freshly exfoliated skin surface immediately during and after application, without the need for a separate body moisturiser.

Dead Sea salt is selected for its mineral density — with 21 minerals including magnesium (which reduces inflammation and supports barrier function), potassium (which balances moisture), calcium (which supports skin renewal), and bromine (which has natural calming properties) at concentrations up to 10 times higher than any ocean salt. Himalayan pink salt brings trace mineral richness, the distinctive rose-tinted visual that signals premium provenance in retail and spa contexts, and an additional fine-crystal texture option that complements the coarser Dead Sea crystals for a blended sensory experience.

The oil base — cold-pressed coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba — is deliberately light in texture despite its nourishing composition. Jojoba, as a liquid wax ester structurally identical to skin sebum, partially resists rinsing and leaves a conditioning residue that the other oils alone would not. The result is a scrub that rinses the salt crystals clean but leaves a thin, absorbing oil film that transforms post-scrub skin feel from stripped and tight to soft and mineral-nourished.

Every element is fully customisable — salt type and crystal grade, oil blend, essential oil fragrance, colour, and packaging. Manufactured under ISO 22716 GMP in Sharjah, UAE. Export-ready for UAE, GCC, EU, and USA. Request a quote within 24–48 hours — samples of all three crystal grades available before production commitment.

Key benefits

What's Inside?

Primary Mineral Exfoliant

Dead Sea Salt

Maris Sal (Dead Sea Salt) Harvested from the Dead Sea — the world's most mineral-dense salt source. Contains 21 minerals at concentrations far exceeding ocean salt. Magnesium chloride (the dominant mineral) has clinically documented anti-inflammatory and barrier-strengthening effects on skin; potassium chloride balances cutaneous moisture; calcium supports cell renewal; bromide has natural skin-calming properties. The therapeutic reputation of Dead Sea minerals is backed by decades of peer-reviewed dermatological research. Available in fine, medium, and coarse crystal grades.

Secondary Mineral Exfoliant

Himalayan Pink Salt

Sodium Chloride (Himalayan) Mined from the ancient Khewra salt deposits of Pakistan — a 250-million-year-old Cambrian sea formation. Contains over 84 trace minerals including iron oxide (the source of its signature rose colour), zinc, potassium, and calcium. The warm pink crystals provide an immediate visual premium signal on opening the jar that Dead Sea salt alone cannot deliver — making this the critical aesthetic ingredient for retail and gifting positioning. Available only in fine and medium grades for skin safety.

Primary Emollient Oil

Coconut Oil (Cold-pressed)

Cocos Nucifera Oil Cold-pressed coconut oil is the backbone emollient of the salt scrub base — chosen for its clean, tropical freshness that harmonises naturally with mineral and sea-inspired fragrance profiles, its rapid skin absorption, and its naturally antimicrobial lauric acid content. In a salt scrub context, the coconut oil prevents the dry, tight feeling that salt crystals alone would cause on skin by immediately conditioning the freshly exfoliated surface. Melts on warm skin contact for a luxurious application experience.

Emollient — Skin-Softening

Sweet Almond Oil

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil Rich in oleic acid (65–75%) and natural Vitamin E — sweet almond oil lightens the overall oil blend, delivering a silky, non-greasy post-scrub skin feel that prevents the heavy residue that can follow coconut-only base formulations. Non-comedogenic and suitable for all skin types. Its natural Vitamin E content contributes antioxidant protection to the freshly exfoliated skin surface alongside the formula's standalone tocopherol addition.

Conditioning Wax Ester

Jojoba Oil

Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil Structurally identical to human skin sebum — jojoba is uniquely biocompatible and partially resists rinsing, leaving a thin, conditioning film on the skin surface after the salt crystals are removed. This post-rinse jojoba residue is the primary reason the skin feels noticeably softer after a salt scrub than after rinsing with water alone. Oxidatively stable (indefinite shelf life), non-comedogenic, and appropriate for all skin types including oily and acne-prone.

Antioxidant Support

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

Tocopherol (Natural d-alpha) Natural d-alpha-tocopherol provides dual functionality — protecting the oil blend from oxidative rancidity during the 18-month shelf life (the primary challenge of an anhydrous oil-based formula), and delivering antioxidant protection to the freshly exfoliated skin surface where the reduced barrier makes it temporarily more vulnerable to environmental free radical damage. A recognised premium ingredient name on the INCI list that consumers actively look for in body care.

Optional Emollient Upgrade

Argan Oil

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil Moroccan argan oil adds exceptional skin luminosity, a premium provenance narrative, and oleic + linoleic acid richness when added to the standard oil blend. A 2–4% argan oil addition delivers a perceptible quality upgrade in post-scrub skin radiance and a "liquid gold" brand story that resonates strongly in the GCC luxury market. Available as an optional upgrade to the standard coconut + almond + jojoba base at a modest cost increase.

Fragrance — 100% Natural

Essential Oil Blend

Variable — dependent on selected scent profile All fragrance in this formula comes exclusively from pure steam-distilled or cold-pressed essential oils — no synthetic fragrance compounds. Four signature profiles available (see scent section below). The eucalyptus and mint profiles in particular harmonise naturally with the mineral, sea-fresh character of Dead Sea salt. The Arabian rose profile was developed specifically for the GCC market. Bespoke scent development available for brands requiring a proprietary signature fragrance.

Preservation — Natural Antioxidant System

Rosemary Antioxidant Extract + Vitamin E

Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract, Tocopherol In this anhydrous (water-free) oil-based formula, conventional antimicrobial preservatives are not required — there is no water phase to support microbial growth. Protection against oxidative rancidity is achieved using a dual natural antioxidant system: rosemary extract (rosmarinic acid + carnosic acid) and natural vitamin E (tocopherol). This extends oil shelf life and maintains fragrance integrity throughout the product's 18-month shelf life without any synthetic preservative compounds.

Frequently asked Questions

What is the difference between Dead Sea salt and Himalayan pink salt in a scrub?

Dead Sea salt is unmatched for mineral density — 21 minerals at concentrations up to 10 times higher than ocean salt, with peer-reviewed clinical evidence supporting therapeutic skin benefits. It is the active mineral of the formula. Himalayan pink salt contains over 84 trace minerals and is valued primarily for its distinctive rose colour (from natural iron oxide content) and its ancient provenance story. In our standard blend, Dead Sea salt provides the therapeutic mineral action and Himalayan pink salt provides the visual premium signal and additional trace mineral content. Brands can request Dead Sea only (maximum therapeutic claim), Himalayan only (maximum visual appeal), or the standard blend.

Is a salt scrub safe for sensitive skin?

The fine crystal grade (100–200µm) is appropriate for most skin types including mildly sensitive skin when used on intact, non-irritated skin. Salt scrubs must not be used on broken skin, freshly shaved skin, active eczema flares, sunburned skin, or any compromised skin surface — the mineral content will cause significant stinging and potential irritation in these cases. For very sensitive, reactive, or barrier-compromised skin, we recommend our Sugar Body Scrub — which uses naturally softer sucrose crystals that dissolve on skin contact and carry no stinging risk.

Why is metal packaging not recommended for salt scrubs?

Salt (sodium chloride and other mineral chlorides) is corrosive to most metals — including aluminium and tinplate — over time, particularly in the presence of the moisture that inevitably enters a jar in bathroom use. Metal corrosion contaminates the product and damages the packaging appearance. We always recommend glass (clear, frosted, or amber) or high-density HDPE / PET plastic for salt scrub packaging. Glass is the premium choice and also shows the beautiful natural rose-pink colour of the Himalayan crystals. If a metal aesthetic is important for your brand, a powder-coated tin with a plastic liner can be explored, but glass is always our first recommendation.

Can this be used as a spa treatment scrub in addition to a retail product?

Yes — the coarse Dead Sea crystal grade in a 500g or 1kg jar is our recommended format for professional spa treatment use: full-body mineral exfoliation protocols, pre-wrap or pre-massage preparation, and hammam-style salt scrub treatments. The medium grade in a 200–300g branded glass jar is the retail take-home product for the same clients. Supplying both formats under a single brand identity creates a seamless treatment-to-retail journey — clients experience the scrub in treatment and buy it to continue the results at home, generating recurring retail revenue from every treatment booking.

Does Dead Sea salt have documented dermatological benefits?

Yes — Dead Sea mineral therapy is one of the most clinically studied areas in dermatology. Peer-reviewed studies published in journals including the International Journal of Dermatology and the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology have documented significant improvements in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and chronic dry skin conditions following Dead Sea salt bathing. The mechanisms are primarily attributed to magnesium chloride (anti-inflammatory, barrier-strengthening) and bromide (naturally calming). In a body scrub used 2–3 times weekly, the mineral contact time is shorter than a full bath — but the exfoliation action removes the dead skin barrier that normally limits mineral penetration, potentially enhancing the mineral delivery per use. We provide the full research bibliography on request for brands making mineral wellness claims.
