The difference is in UV filter concentration: the SPF 50 carries a higher loading of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to achieve the higher protection level, which results in a slightly richer texture and marginally more visible finish on very dark skin tones. SPF 30 is formulated for daily wear and hospitality amenity settings; SPF 50 is designed for extended outdoor exposure, sport, beach, and children’s applications. Why choose mineral (zinc oxide) over chemical sunscreen filters?

Can I add a water-resistance claim to this sunscreen?

Yes — a water-resistant variant is available for both SPF 30 and SPF 50. Water resistance is available as 40-minute or 80-minute (the maximum permissible claim under both EU and USFDA regulations). Achieving a water resistance claim requires a formulation adjustment to improve film-forming and adhesion properties, plus mandatory water resistance efficacy testing. This adds approximately 2–3 weeks to the standard lead time and involves additional testing costs.
